Pengembangan Sistem Informasi Penerimaan Siswa Baru Berbasis Web Dengan Integrasi Payment Gateway dan WhatsApp Gateway Pada SMK Lentera Bangsa Karawang

Abstract

This study extends a previously developed web-based new student admission information system at SMK Lentera Bangsa Karawang by adding a payment gateway and a WhatsApp gateway. The earlier system had automated registration, document verification, and selection, yet applicants still had to pay the registration fee manually and had no automatic channel for tracking their application status, which slowed payment confirmation and increased inquiries to the committee. This research applies the Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) through six stages: problem identification, objective definition, design and development, demonstration, evaluation, and communication. Two modules were built: a Midtrans-based payment gateway that verifies registration payments in near real time, and a WhatsApp gateway that automatically notifies applicants at five key stages of the admission process. Black box testing and user acceptance testing involving committee members and prospective students were used to evaluate the system. The results show that payment verification time was reduced substantially compared with the manual process, WhatsApp notification delivery achieved a high success rate, and the System Usability Scale (SUS) score increased compared with the previous system. These findings indicate that integrating payment and messaging gateways into an existing admission system can further improve administrative efficiency and applicant satisfaction.
